Year 6 to 7 Transition Program

Kincumber High School and our four partner primary schools form the Kincumba Learning Community (KLC).

  • Avoca Beach Public School

  • Copacabana Public School

  • Kincumber Public School

  • Pretty Beach Public School

We are proud and committed to provide an extensive preparation for high school program for students as they move from Year 6 into Year 7 at our school.

The KLC Transition Team, comprised of representatives from each partner school, meet at various times throughout the year to plan and coordinate the Transition Program to meet the needs of all students.

Due to COVID-19 our regular program of transition events has been interrupted and in Term 2, 2020, there will be no face to face Year 6 student events at Kincumber High School. We will update you with changes as they occur and how these relate to proposed events for Terms 3 and 4.

Key Events

Year 7 Orientation Day - Tuesday 1 December at Kincumber High School. 9am until 2pm. Students will participate in a range of orientation activities, including a number of course-based mini-lessons. More information on this day will be forwarded to the families of enrolled students early in Term 4.  Students are to wear their school uniform, including fully enclosed black leather shoes, bring a pen, and also bring recess, lunch and a drink bottle (refills available).

Year 7 Parent Orientation Information Evening - This event has been cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions. We will endeavor to host the Year 7 2021 parents and carers in an event early in Term 1 2021.

Parent Information Evening Cancelled

Class placement testing - Transition testing for students who are not from the Kincumba Learning Community (as described above) is at Kincumber High School between 12:30 -2:30pm on Wednesday 16 September. This testing contributes to class placement decisions to be made for Year 7 2021.

This testing day will feature a numeracy and a literacy (writing based) component. Parents are asked to remain outside the school gates when dropping off and collecting their children. School representatives will be in place at the front office and flagpole area to receive and greet the students.  Students are asked to bring their pencil case.  Students who attend testing on this day are not from our four partner primary schools but should be enrolled at Kincumber High School for Year 7 2021. Families are asked to contact the front office staff to register their attendance for this testing event no later than Friday 11 September.  Thank you.

Book Packs for 2021
